What's Happening at MCCC

MCCC Business EXCELerator - Wednesday, May 17 - "You Got The Appointment - Now What?"

Greg Knoop, MCCC Small Business Co-Chair introduced Patrick Johnson, Director of Procurement, Office of Procurement, Montgomery College. As the largest community college in Maryland, Montgomery College educates roughly 60,000 students and employs 2,500 faculty and staff.
The Office of Procurement consolidates the purchasing needs for all campuses. Mr. Johnson encouraged businesses to register as a vendor with eMaryland Marketplace http://procurement.maryland.gov/ , as this is where the College posts notification of current bid opportunities. Montgomery College offers two types of procurements: 1) Request for Bid (RFB), which is based solely on pricing, and 2) Request for Proposal (RFP), which is based on a combination of technical merit and pricing. Vendors are reminded to adhere to the bid or proposal submission requirements and associated deadlines. Requirements contracts typically last for five years. This includes an initial one year term, along with four one-year renewal options. The re-bid process for expiring requirements contracts typically starts four months prior to contract expiration. When needed, the College also bridges/piggybacks valid contracts that are currently in place at other state and local public agencies. The Montgomery College Buyer Commodity Assignment List is located at  http://cms.montgomerycollege.edu/edu/department2.aspx?id=4730
