How We Work

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) works to influence the development of legislative policy at the County, State, and National levels, focusing on:

  • Economic competitiveness
  • Strategic capital investment
  • Shaping the marketplace

We help create a constant flow of information from the government to our members to ensure you have the resources to succeed in any marketplace or industry through:

  • Guidance from our Board of Directors and Business Environment Council
  • Monthly MCCC Business Exchange meetings, which keep us up to date on policy issues that impact businesses in the region
  • Rockville & Annapolis Legislative Receptions that connect business leaders, employers, & elected officials
 
Here is how we work at every level of government to accelerate your success.

County & Local Advocacy

MCCC works closely with the County Executive, County Council, Board of Education, Planning Board and many county government departments to support business success.
 
The key issues we focus on at the county level revolve around:
​
  • Doing Business in the County (local employment mandates, local regulations, cost of doing business, coordination with state and federal regulations)
  • Annual Operating Budget (including sun setting the 100% Energy Tax begun in FY10)
  • Annual Capital Budget
  • Master Plans & community evolution
  • County Council Legislation (including the 2016 Subdivision Staging Policy)

​State Advocacy

​MCCC works year-round with legislators, the Governor, and the Executive Branch on key issues at the state level that include:

  • Capital Investment
  • Employment Law
  • Taxes

Federal Advocacy

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce works proactively with Congressional representatives and Agency personnel to advocate for the business community at the Federal level.
 
Two key areas of focus are:

  • Small Business Success
  • Government Contracting

Through advocacy, MCCC interacts with over 100 elected officials at the County, State and Federal levels, including:​
