Joni Abbadessa is native to the area, born and raised in Montgomery County. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Indiana University, and is a C.P.A. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and attended MIT’s Operations Management summer program.
After graduating college and obtaining her C.P.A., Joni returned to Montgomery County where she worked as an auditor with KPMG (Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.). Her business experience led her to join Freddie Mac, where she worked first as a Supervisor and then Manager of Regional Accounting, the Director of Operations Services, and finally the Vice President of Loan Administration. As the Vice President of Loan Administration she oversaw a mortgage portfolio of over $215 billion and a 4,500+ customer base. Before joining the Chamber, Joni worked as the Controller of a Maryland C.P.A. firm.
Throughout her adult life, Joni has been an active volunteer in several community, educational and service organizations. She has volunteered extensively in Montgomery County schools, PTA’s, and sports establishments. She conceptualized, established and served on the Board of Directors for a National Girls Ice Hockey Foundation, based in Montgomery County, which was created to support and promote girls’ ice hockey at elite levels and advance standards of academic and athletic preparedness for female student athletes. She has also fostered fundraising and supported participation in pediatric and breast cancer awareness.
Joni raised two children in Montgomery County, a son and a daughter, and is committed to helping ensure Montgomery County remains a leader in advocating for a globally competitive and vibrant business climate to ensure continued quality of life for our community in the future.
