David Brennan, MBE
Director of Telehealth Initiatives, 
MedStar Institute for Innovation

David Brennan is a Senior Research Engineer with MedStar Health Research Institute’s National Rehabilitation Hospital Research Division. A prominent telehealth researcher with over 15 years of experience, his research and development activities focus on methods to better integrate information and communication technologies into the delivery of healthcare to improve access, enhance outcomes, and reduce cost. He has served as Primary Investigator on projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and Department of Education.
As Director of Telehealth Initiatives for the MedStar Institute for Innovation, David works to further the creative adoption of innovative healthcare delivery methods within and across the MedStar Health System and, more generally, throughout the healthcare industry. He is leading efforts to explore ways in which modern information and communication technologies can be integrated into the delivery of healthcare to expand and grow the portfolio of MedStar’s clinical and research telehealth initiatives.

David holds an adjunct faculty position with the Catholic University of America School of Engineering, where he received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Biomedical Engineering. He has presented at national and international conferences and meetings, and authored more than 30 articles on telehealth, telerehabilitation, and human factors. He is the former chair of the Telerehabilitation Special Interest Group of the American Telemedicine Association, where he currently serves on the Standards and Guidelines Committee. David has high visibility within the telehealth community through active participation in grant and journal review panels, conference committees, and professional association working groups. His research interests include telehealth; personal, mobile and social networking technologies; human factors engineering; user-centered design; and health services research.

Frank J. Genova, MD
Associate Medical Director for Technology Integration, Kaiser Permanente

Frank Genova, MD is the Associate Medical Director for Technology Integration for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group.  In this role, he leads the optimization of the Epic electronic medical record in the Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States region.  He is certified on the Epic Ambulatory module and guides the management of the many technologies that interface with the electronic medical record.  He has assisted in the development of store and forward dermatology imaging and TeleMedicine for specialty care.   

Dr. Genova joined the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group as a Psychiatrist practicing in a Kaiser Permanente medical center in downtown Washington, D.C.  In addition to his psychiatric responsibilities, he served as Psychiatry Liaison for the Gastric Bypass Surgical Committee.  At Kaiser Permanente’s North Capitol Medical Center, he served as Champion for Specialty Participation in Cancer Screening.  Prior to joining the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, Dr. Genova worked in private practice in Jacksonville, Florida.  He also served as medical director of an inpatient psychiatric unit as well as delivering care in rural Florida at a Community Mental Health Center. 

Dr. Genova received his undergraduate training from the University of Miami and his MD from the University of Miami.  He completed a Psychiatric Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. 


Susan L. Glover, R.N., MHA, CHC
Senior Vice President, Chief Quality & Integrity Officer, Adventist HealthCare

Susan Glover currently serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Quality & Integrity Officer for Adventist HealthCare, located in Rockville, Maryland. This role is a member of Adventist HealthCare’s (AHC) senior leadership team which provides overall direction for Quality and Patient Safety at AHC. Responsibilities for this role include leading system-wide performance improvement activities and the Care Excellence Electronic Health Record implementation. She also serves as the Chief Compliance Officer for Adventist HealthCare.

Ms. Glover is the Chairperson of the Maryland Patient Safety Center and a Committee Member of the Maryland Health Care Commission Hospital Performance Evaluation Guide Advisory Committee. Susan has served as Chairperson of the Montgomery County Healthcare Collaborative on Emergency Preparedness. This innovative committee, created in 2001, was charged with developing a comprehensive Montgomery County provider emergency preparedness response system after 9/11.

Prior to her work with Adventist HealthCare, Susan has served in various executive and nursing roles in Adventist HealthCare organizations for the last 20 years. She has a Master of Health Care Administration degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from George Mason University. Currently, Susan maintains membership in several professional/community organizations. Michael O'Neil, Jr.
Founder & Chief Executive Officer, GetWellNetwork

Michael O’Neil was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of 28. After four cycles of chemotherapy, he immediately began building GetWellNetwork. GetWellNetwork works with hospitals to improve performance and outcomes through patient engagement.
Today, GetWellNetwork is recognized by KLAS® as the leader in the new Interactive Patient Systems category and exclusively endorsed by the American Hospital Association. GetWellNetwork has also been acknowledged as one of the fastest growing companies in the Washington DC area by Inc. Magazine, Deloitte Technology Fast 500™ and SmartCEO magazine.
Michael is a member of Mindshare, a forum of CEOs from leading early-stage technology companies in Washington, DC. He serves on the board of directors of the Lisner Home in Washington, DC, a long-term care facility for disadvantaged elderly citizens, and The DAISY Foundation, an organization dedicated to honoring nurses. Michael has been named to the Top 40 Under 40 Entrepreneurs in Venture Magazine, and as a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year program in Washington, DC. The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce recognized GetWellNetwork as the Verl Zanders Emerging Business of the Year at its 2011 Business Awards Dinner.
Michael has served as an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in Washington, DC.  In addition, Michael is a guest speaker at University of Virginia Law School, the Robert H. Smith Business School - University of Maryland and The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. Michael received a B.A. with honors from the University of Notre Dame and a JD/MBA from Georgetown University.

Richard Singerman, Ph.D.
Chief Innovation Officer, TrustNetMD

Dr. Singerman is also an adjunt instructor at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School with a focus on Healthcare Innovation Management and Healthcare Informatics.  Richard Singerman had been an Associate Partner in IBM's Healthcare Transformation & Analytics practice where he was responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to support health system transformation. Before that he served in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, US Department of Health and Human Services. Richard's public service was preceded by his role as Director of Innovation and Knowledge Sharing for Ascension Health, the nation's largest nonprofit health care system. He is a member of the Advisory Board for BNA’s Health IT & Law Industry Report and the author of numerous articles and reports concerning health care trends, knowledge sharing, diagnostic imaging, and additional innovations necessary to elevating quality and performance. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Cornell University, a Masters in Applied Mathematics from Cambridge University, and a BS in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Christopher T. Timbers
Vice President of Information Systems and Chief Information Officer,
Suburban Hospital Healthcare System

Christopher T. Timbers responsibilities include oversight for all the information systems and telephony for the Suburban Hospital Healthcare System and development of the information systems strategic plan. Prior to joining Suburban in March 2008, Mr. Timbers worked for Perot Systems for 7 years, leading a team responsible for system implementations at the Daughters of Charity Health System and Catholic Healthcare West. Significant projects included the installation of numerous financial and clinical systems including a Web-based physician portal that supported more than 1,000 physicians.
Mr. Timbers has also held the positions of Director of Strategic Projects for Catholic Healthcare West and Director of Information Systems for Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center. Mr. Timbers holds a B.S. degree in business administration from the California Polytechnic State University.
