VIP GROW Graduates to be Recognized during National Small Business Week

Rockville, MD Five graduates of the National Center for Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP) GROW program have been selected to receive awards from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), SBA Washington Metropolitan Area District Office and SBA South Florida District Office. The awardees will be recognized during National Small Business Week, May 1-7, 2016.

Robert Palmer, President and CEO, Creative Business Solutions, Inc., and 2015 VIP GROW graduate will receive the 2016 Small Business Person of the Year Award for the District of Columbia. “I am honored to receive this award from the SBA Washington Metropolitan Area District Office and I’d like to extend my thanks to the SBA, MCCCF, VIP, and the Goldman Sachs 10K SB programs and the many teaming partners for their ongoing dedication to helping veteran-owned small businesses succeed,” Mr. Palmer said.

Raymond Jardine Jr., Chairman and CEO, Native Hawaiian Veterans, LLC, is a 2011 VIP GROW graduate and will receive the 2016 Small Business Person of the Year Award for Hawaii. “I am humbled and honored to be selected as the Hawaii SBA Small Business Person of the Year for 2016,” said Mr. Jardine. “All of this is not possible if not for the great people I have surrounded myself with!”

Both Robert Palmer and Raymond Jardine Jr. are in the running with 52 other state and territory Small Business Person of the Year winners for the 2016 National Small Business Person of the Year Award.

Staci Redmon, President and CEO, Strategy and Management Services, Inc., was selected for the 2016 Washington Metropolitan Area District Office’s Small Business Person of Year representing Northern Virginia. “The SBA has provided a great foundation for SAMS’ growth as we continue to exceed expectations in the workplace and the community,” Ms. Redmon said. “I am very grateful to the MCCCF and VIP for their continued support; it truly is a privilege to be recognized alongside other VIP graduates!” Ms. Redmon is a 2010 graduate of the VIP GROW program.

Ahmed Ali, President and Chairman, TISTA Science and Technology Corporation, is a 2013 VIP GROW graduate and will be recognized as the 2016 Washington Metropolitan Area District Office’s Small Business Person of the Year representing Maryland. “It is a wonderful honor to be recognized by the SBA Washington Metropolitan Area District Office, and I am thrilled to be included in this group of small business leaders who are doing great work in our community,” Mr. Ali said.

Brian Butler, President and Senior Consultant, Vistra Communications, LLC, was selected for the 2016 South Florida District Office’s Veteran-Owned Small Business Person of the Year Award. “I am honored to be recognized as the SBA’s South Florida District 2016 Veteran-Owned Small Business Person of the Year,” said Mr. Butler. “At Vistra, we have a great team that works daily to make a difference for our clients and this award reflects their efforts. I am humbled to be among fellow VIP graduates who will be recognized during National Small Business Week.” Mr. Butler is a 2015 VIP GROW graduate.

The VIP program is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. “We are thrilled to see our VIP GROW graduates recognized on the national scale, and thank the SBA for their continued partnership as we arm our veterans to win in the Federal space,” said Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation President Barbara Ashe.
