49 Veteran-Owned Businesses Gain the Tools to Compete After
Graduating from the Veteran Institute for Procurement

Rockville, MD – On March 12, after 27 hours of training over the span of 3 days, 49 veteran-owned business executives graduated from the Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP) at The Bolger Center in Potomac, MD. Seeking to transform the way they do business, the graduates learned how to win contracts and avoid costly mistakes in the government procurement space.

“The opportunities exist and our veteran business leaders should be competing for them.” said Barbara Ashe, President of the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation. “We are honored to give back to our veterans by equipping them with the tools necessary for success in government contracting.”

The program is instructed by professional service experts, government officials, and agency representatives with first-hand experience in government contracting. In addition to new tools, the participants also gain valuable networking connections with Federal agencies and prime contractors.

Since its launch in 2009, VIP has helped 397 service-disabled and veteran-owned small business Federal contractors from 31 states and the District of Columbia. VIP graduate successes include:

  • Over 2,018 new jobs created
  • An average increased revenue of 49% within their first year of graduation
  • Million dollar contracts acquired
  • New teaming agreements formed with fellow VIP graduates

VIP is an educational training program for owners, principals and C-level executives of veteran-owned businesses. The comprehensive certification program is designed for veteran businesses to increase their ability to win government contracts by establishing best business practices.
