Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen to Receive
Legislator of the Year Award at the MCCC 57th Annual Dinner

Rockville, MD – Montgomery County Council President Nancy Floreen will receive the Legislator of the Year Award at the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) 57th Annual Dinner. The award is sponsored by The Donohoe Companies, Inc., Federal Realty Investment Trust, Linowes and Blocher LLP, and Percontee, Inc. and will be presented on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

“Linowes and Blocher, Federal Realty Investment Trust, Percontee and Donohoe are honored to sponsor Nancy Floreen as the Chamber’s Legislator of the Year,” said Barbara A. Sears, Linowes and Blocher LLP. “Nancy has been an effective leader in Montgomery County for nearly 30 years.  As an At-Large member of the Montgomery County Council for the last 14 years, she has helped shape County policies and laws in numerous areas with the best interests of the business community, residents, and other stakeholders in mind.  In her role as a legislator, she has consistently demonstrated the ability to balance competing interests while skillfully advancing important legislative goals.  Congratulations.”

Council President Floreen has been an advocate for a strong business environment throughout her years of service on the Montgomery County Council. Notably, she created the Montgomery Business Development Corporation, spearheaded the Green Certified Business Program, and championed the Road Code zoning rewrite and revisions. She also serves as the Chair of the Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) Committee and a member of the Transportation, Energy and Environment (T&E) Committee.

“I’m honored to be selected by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce for the Legislator of the Year Award. Not only am I pleased to be recognized by such a venerable organization as the Chamber of Commerce, but I’m also proud to be associated with our many outstanding businesses that make Montgomery County such a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” said County Council President Nancy Floreen. “Most of all, I’m grateful for having had the opportunity to work with Montgomery County businesses of all sizes that have taken civic engagement so seriously and have made such a tremendous impact on our community.”
