MCCC Applauds Marriott International Decision to Remain in Montgomery County

Rockville, MD – The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce joins business and government leaders in praising Marriott International, Inc. for the decision to remain in Montgomery County, Maryland. 

The decision was announced this morning via multiple press releases with details that Marriott has committed to build a new headquarters with an adjacent hotel in downtown Bethesda.

Georgette “Gigi” Godwin, MCCC President and CEO, stated “Marriott International is iconic in our community, respected as a great employer and global leader in the hospitality industry, and has been an active leader at MCCC for many decades.”  Jim Young, Vice President, Corporate Facilities, Services and Real Estate for Marriott International, Inc. is the current Chair of the  MCCC Board of Directors.

Godwin also expressed appreciation for the diligent and coordinated work of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Montgomery County Executive Isiah “Ike” Leggett, and the Montgomery County Council for the commitment to retain a foundational corporation as part of a robust local and regional economy.
