Rockville, Md. – The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce has named Jonathan Sachs as its Director of Public Affairs.  Sachs will lead the Chamber’s public policy communication and advocacy. He assumes the responsibilities of Lisa Fadden who left the Chamber in August 2011.

Sachs will be responsible for managing the Chamber’s public policy committees: Legislative Affairs, Small Business, Economic Development and Infrastructure & Land Use in close coordination with its Board of Directors Executive Committee members. He will also work with the Chamber’s lobbyist John Stierhoff, Partner, Venable, LLP to advance the Chamber’s advocacy to the State of Maryland legislature. Sachs will also handle all of the Chamber’s press relations and communications.

Gigi Godwin, the Chamber’s President and CEO states, “We are delighted to have Jonathan join our team as we Lead, Advocate and Connect as the Voice of Business.  He brings a fresh approach and enthusiasm to the challenging environment that is public policy.”

Sachs brings strong experience in Federal, State and local government to this role. He has worked at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) as their Campus Mobilization Director. As Capitol Hill intern, he worked for Congressman Steny Hoyer, for the Energy and Commerce Committee, and the U.S. Senate Press Photographer’s Gallery. From 2007-2009, Sachs worked in Annapolis as a staffer and advocate. At the local level, Sachs was involved in Montgomery and Prince George’s county community activism.
