Bell Nursery to Receive Visionary of the Year Award at the MCCC 57th Annual Dinner

Rockville, MD – Bell Nursery USA LLC. will receive the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) 57th Annual Dinner Visionary of the Year award for its innovation and tremendous contributions to Montgomery County and beyond. The award is co-sponsored by the Universities at Shady Grove and Lindsay Goldberg LLC and will be presented by Dr. Stewart Edelstein, Executive Director of the Universities at Shady Grove and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University System of Maryland. The MCCC 57th Annual Dinner will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

Bell Nursery is a local success story of a family-owned business that began small and expanded to become the largest wholesale nursery grower in the Eastern U.S. Today, it produces and ships approximately 100 million locally grown plants and flowers annually throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, through nearly 200 Home Depot stores.

The company’s innovative and sustainable practices have challenged norms and changed the way business is conducted in the greenhouse industry. Its industry-leading programs like the Growers Network and dedicated in-store merchandising team have set the standard for greenhouse expansion and retail partnership.

Bell Nursery also gives back to the community and supports the future of horticulture in Maryland through collaboration with the University of Maryland and the Bob and Shirley Mangum Memorial Scholarship.

“It’s an honor to receive such a prestigious award from the Chamber and we are grateful for the recognition. Our mission includes being an innovative industry leader, focused on growing and delivering unmatched quality for our retail partner, the Home Depot, where we celebrate 25 years of working together next year,” said Gary Mangum, CEO & President of Bell Nursery USA LLC. “Our sustainable efforts have been extremely important to the growth and success of the company and our associates,  and we’re committed to cultivating that sustainable environmentally conscious philosophy in every phase of the business.”
