Montgomery Chamber’s Annual Dinner: "The Future is Here!"

Chamber Awards to be Presented to National Institute of Standards and Technology, Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection At June 9 Event

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will host its 51st Annual Dinner on Wednesday, June 9, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, and tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available. One of the metropolitan region’s top business networking events, this year’s event is themed, “The Future is Here.” The annual dinner is expected to attract 600-plus business leaders, along with an array of elected officials and community leaders.

The annual dinner will feature installation of the Chamber’s new officers for 2010-11, and the presentation of two major awards:

  • The MCCC Visionary Award will honor the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a federal agency which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The award will be presented to Dr. Patrick Gallagher, the NIST Director, as an “outstanding leader whose vision, innovation and generosity contributes to the prosperity of commerce, government and community in Montgomery County.” Montgomery County is home to NIST, the federal agency responsible for writing national standards and protocols for cyber-security, health information technology, and the energy Smart Grid, as it strengthens U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness. The MCCC Visionary Award is sponsored by Chevy Chase Bank, A Division of Capital One.
  • The MCCC Partner of the Year Award will honor the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). It will be presented to Robert G. Hoyt, DEP Director, of “an organization that works in partnership with MCCC to propel the Chamber’s mission forward.” Montgomery County is the first county in Maryland to establish a Green Business Certification Program which readies businesses to succeed in the new, green economy. The MCCC Partner of the Year Award is sponsored by Reznick Group, P.C.

The Chamber will also pay tribute to outgoing MCCC Chairman of the Board William Eisig, a Partner with BDO Seidman, LLP, who will also announce the recipient of this year’s Chairman’s Awards. In addition, the Chamber will swear in its new officers, including the incoming Board Chair for 2010-11, Mr. Sterling Crockett, Chairman and CEO of Sterling Construction Services and Senior Financial Officer of R4 Incorporated
