Karen Killian, President, LMD 

With three decades of agency experience, Karen leads the LMD team and drives growth for the company and its clients. She is passionate about helping clients answer their "why" to create fresh communications strategies that evoke emotion and inspire change. Since joining LMD in 2000, Karen has successfully positioned and promoted education, government, nonprofit, and private sector clients in challenging business climates. Karen graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland with a BS in advertising and a minor in computer science.

For fun, Karen seeks out the sun, relishes family time, and volunteers with organizations that impact children's lives.

Karen led the marketing, branding, and account service teams at LMD for 15 years. She served as lead strategist on key accounts, conceived and implemented strategic plans and brands, and developed winning marketing messages for clients, such as the Department of Homeland Security, the National Protection and Programs Directorate [NPPD], and the Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment [PM-ISE ]), Direct Holdings Global/Time Life, the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), Sandviks/Hooked on Phonics, University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business, Prince George’s County, University of Maryland Baltimore Carey School of Law, Guidewell Financial Solutions, Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, and the ADDY Award-winning Trollbeads international advertising campaign.

Prior to joining LMD, Karen worked at several Baltimore-Washington area agencies and owned her own consulting firm.
