Recap: VIP Grow June 2016

VIP Grow is the country’s first-ever program to train veteran service-disabled and veteran owned small businesses to succeed in the federal contracting market. This three-day, 27-hour, comprehensive training program is designed for owners, principals and C-level executives of veteran-owned businesses nationwide and is offered at no cost to participants, fully funded through a public-private partnership.

The June 2016 VIP Grow session graduated 47 veteran-owned businesses. Since the program launched in 2009, VIP Grow has graduated 638 veteran-owned businesses from 38 states, Washington D.C., and a U.S. Territory.

The June 2016 VIP Grow session featured the following topics:

  • Accounting/Budgets/Developing Rates
  • Compliance
  • Contracting – Teaming, Joint Ventures, RFI
  • Financing/Capital Management
  • Human Resources
  • Insurance
  • Marketing – Proposals & Capture Management
  • Program Management/Internal Controls

The graduation ceremony featured a Small Business Federal Leaders Panel Discussion with moderator Robert L. Bailey, President/CEO for BIT Consultants, LLC (2012 VIP Graduate); and panelists Alice Williams, Associate Director, Workforce Initiatives, Socioecomonic Programs & RIF, Office of Small Business Programs, U.S. Department of Defense; Calvin Mitchell, Account Management Branch Chief/ Office of Customer Account and Research, U.S. General Services Administration (GSA); and Teresa Lewis, Director, Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
