Julie Verratti, Advisor, Field Operations, U.S. Small Business Administration
Julie advises the Deputy on entrepreneurship program and economic development and regularly partners with the small business community to enhance access to capital and mentorship to small business owners and start-ups. She also coordinates with incubators, universities, and chambers of commerce to get valuable information in the hands of entrepreneurs so that they can start or grow their businesses. Her portfolio focuses on veteran programs, tax policy, and government-wide initiatives, such as the Affordable Care Act that impact the business community. Julie formerly worked as a staffer for the U.S. Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, directed and advised on national and state political campaigns, and has run her own businesses as a personal trainer and a gourmet coffee caterer. She began her federal government career as a Presidential Management Fellow. Julie earned her law degree from The George Washington University Law School where she focused on business and tax law and is currently barred in California. Her undergraduate degree is from Brandeis University.


Tequila Terry, Director, Plan & Partner Management at Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE)

Tequila Terry joined the MHBE as the Director of Plan and Partner Management in February 2012. She is responsible for establishing, cultivating and maintaining relationships with commercial medical and dental insurance carriers, cooperatives, managed care organizations (MCOs), insurance producers and third-party administrators (TPAs). Tequila also serves as liaison between the MHBE and the outside market, works with stakeholders to identify implications of policy decisions with respect to the market and communicates policy decisions to market partners.
Throughout her career, Tequila has worked with a broad array of health care industry stakeholders including health care providers, insurance carriers, patients and policymakers to assist in improving the health care delivery model for low-income individuals.  She earned an MBA from the Emory University Goizueta Business School and is pursuing a master’s degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Tina Tucker, CBC, GBDS, Vice President, Manager Key Accounts, The Insurance Exchange, Inc.

Tina brings over 22 years of experience in the insurance industry, and holds a Life & Health license. She is a designated Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS) and Certified Benefit Consultant (CBC). Within her first 16 years in the business she worked in both the small and large group markets in managing the service side of employee benefits.  She worked for many carriers both fully insured and self-funded, these included Lincoln National, Great West/Cigna and Humana. When she joined The Insurance Exchange in 1996 she supervised our account management team. Her responsibilities entailed contract negotiation, account implementations, problem resolutions, consulting clients in benefit options, policies and procedures of new and existing coverage, conducting new benefit presentations, enrollment meetings, and analyzing, preparing and delivering renewals as well as the supervision of other account managers with similar responsibilities. This is a role she continues to manage in her Vice President role at TIE.  Her vast experience in service management allows her to have exceptional insight into how to best assist her clients when conducting a marketing analysis. Tina has proven skills in analyzing a company's health care objective and needs. Having worked with hundreds of employers in various industries to establish efficient, cost-effective health care plans, she is an expert in the design of both fully insured and partially self-funded benefit programs that control costs and enhance health care management. Her portfolio of current clients includes some well-established employers in this region in the following industries: Government Contractors, Technology, Not-for-Profit Organizations, Association Headquarters, Construction, and a wide array of For Profit Companies.
