Guest Speaker: George Leventhal, President, Montgomery County Council (At-Large)

Tom McElroy, Vice-Chair of the Legislative Affairs Committee, welcomed members and introduced guest speaker, George Leventhal, President, Montgomery County Council (At-Large). Leventhal discussed his priorities for Montgomery County’s 2015 Session as they affect the business community.

He began by noting that Montgomery County has a lot to offer businesses and has a great story to tell, urging attendees to talk about the great assets and resources that the county has and the great things that are being accomplished every day.

Leventhal shared examples of new and innovative initiatives that are being developed in Montgomery County and that set the county apart from others. He mentioned that the business community and elected officials need to understand the assets and resources that we have to offer and do a better job of telling the county’s great story in order to attract investment and to persuade others to come and grow here.

He also remarked to the importance of investing in Montgomery County’s transportation infrastructure, starting with the Purple Line.

Leventhal closed his remarks by asking attendees to continue to work together to support a healthy business climate that stimulates investment and our economy.

The meeting concluded with Q&A and a discussion about priorities in Montgomery County.
