Recap: January 22, 2013 Green Business Forum: Greening Government Procurement: It's coming!

Attendees received insight and action-oriented advice on how to advance and promote sustainable business practices at today’s forum moderated by Gregory Knoop, AIA, LEED-AP from OKKS Studios, Inc..  Nancy Gillis, Director of Federal Supply Chain Emissions PMO, U.S. General Services Administration presented ways in which the Federal government is implementing practices that considers the “life cycle” of a product when evaluating best value.  David Dise, Director, of the Department of General Services at Montgomery County, Maryland demonstrated ways in which Montgomery County government is incorporating green practices in procurements. Ms.  Maribeth Malloy, Director of the Environmental Sustainability & Governance for Lockheed Martin Corporation spoke about how Lockheed is greening their supply chains and providing measurement guideposts for performance.  The Forum concluded that both private and public entities working together will help shift cultural behavior towards sustainability procurements.
