Three winter blizzards and three major summer storms have led to many extended periods of power outages for thousands of area residents, and left Pepco in the "eye of the storm" of public outcry on each of these occasions. Pepco's Executive Vice President for Power Delivery, David Velasquez, met with the MCCC Economic Development Committee, addressing some of the reasons for the outtages and steps Pepco is taking to improve service. Pepco will be investing $250 million, over five years, to improve infrastructure. Velasquez also addressed some of the considerations that may need to be taken into account, with regard to the Maryland Public Service Commission's anticipated development of reliability standards.
