Mary B. Armstead, NITAAC Program Director, gave a presentation on October 7 to the Chamber's GovConNet Committee. She emphasized how different the new government wide CIO-SP3 process is from previous versions of the acquisition program. In addition to changes in how  vendors will be selected, Ms. Armstead highlighted the various ways the program will help to expand the base of small businesses that will have opportunities to be awarded contracts. This is in step with the federal government's increased requirements to procure with small business vendors.

In an initiative being closely watched by federal government contractors everywhere, the National Institutes of Health Information Technology Assessment and Acquisition Center (NITAAC) is preparing to launch a new Chief Information Officer-Solutions and Partners 3 (CIO-SP3) program that the White House says will fill an important need for agencies with health-related responsibilities. The Office of Management and Budget recently designated NIH as an executive agent for the CIO-SP3 and CIO-SP3 Small Business government-wide acquisition contracts (GWACs).
