On September 12, 2012, Michael J. Schrier, Counsel, Jackson Kelly PLLC and Eric Whytsell, Manager, Jackson Kelly PLLC provided members with key information on the topic of sequestration. Sequestration is a mechanism through which automatic, across-the-board spending cuts are made. The Budget Control Act of 2011 will initiate sequestration if 1) Congress approves spending higher than caps set forth in the law or 2) a plan from the Super Committee fails to become law. Its implementation will impact government contractors as well as federal government employees. In any event, it is important for government contractors to prepare for a way forward i.e.. 1) prepare for better change management; 2) pro-actively engage with customers; 3) offer solutions to government problems; 4) deliver the solution. In order to achieve government contracting success, under any circumstance, the key is to work together.
