Diane Sahakian, Deputy Executive Director, Procurement, Office of Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) presented to MCCC members trends in government procurement and how they are being implemented at CBP, which is one of the  largest and most complex components of DHS.  She provided an overview of procurement needs to meet their expansive mission, including IT, construction, goods and services.  Ms. Sahakian shared CBP goals to transform contracting into smaller segments -  known as modular buying - to increase competition and give more regional and small businesses the opportunity to win contracts.  CPB also embraces Agile Methodology and Test Driven Development as part of their procurement planning.  CBP will continue their efforts in strategic sourcing with small businesses and will continue to leverage Reverse Auction processes. She also listed key information on how to identify contracting opportunities and receive small business assistance at CBP.
