The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce works proactively with Congressional representatives and Agency personnel to advocate for the business community at the Federal level. 


GovConNet Council Advocacy:

GovConNet Midsize Initiative
The MCCC GovConNet Council is actively exploring ways to assist mid-size firms in the federal market. Interested in pursuing policy changes in federal acquisition as well as legislative solutions, the Council is working through proposals that could assist midsize firms in competing for federal contracts.  See the press release here. Examples of Key Accomplishments to Date:

  • MCCC successfully advocated for an extension of deadlines to provide more time for businesses to comment on changes to subcontracting and mentor protégé programs.
  • MCCC opposed insourcing in government projects which led to a dramatic reduction in the rate of insourcing in government projects.
  • MCCC advocated for Federal Climate Services to be located in Montgomery County. President Obama announced it will be located at NOAA in Gaithersburg.
  • MCCC successfully advocated for including a mentor protégé program for women, SDVOSB’s, and Hub Zone Companies in the Small Business Jobs Bill.
  • MCCC Advocated for parity in SBA set-aside programs. The language was adopted into the Small Business Act.
  • MCCC Advocated for Maryland’s regional competitiveness in GSA Leasing.
